A short summary of this book for those that have not yet read it: Set in an alternate 1992, this story takes place in a world in which death can be prolonged by inducing the recently deceased into a sort of half-life, where the
deceased exist adrift in a shadow realm. At the same time, Dick makes his setting a psuedo dystopian future that is stagnating economically, (even one's own front door will castigate one for not having the proper funds to make it open and close), and where psychics and anti psychics vie for control of public sentiment. When the owner
of an anti psychic security company, known as a prudence organization, is assassinated by his chief rival, his employees must solve the mystery surrounding his death. In the process, the antagonists sink deper into a world
of entopy and discover a shocking truth about their own existences. Throughout the journey, the panaceaic product Ubik, which is a derivation of the word ubiquity, taunts the characters witfh the only promise of escaping
the enropy.
The setting and the plot are merely vehicles, however, for Dick to make his statement on commercialism, apathy, and .fear of the unkown or religion. The journey of the characters is one through a mosaic of past world events and
the consequences of arrogance and ignorance. The tone of the book is sardonic and revels in its own irony.

Exit through the gift shop
Exit Through The Gift Shop is a film by Thierry Guette and street artist Banksy. If anyone has ever seen the Sex Pistols Great Rock and Roll Swindle, it is somewhat reminiscent. Thierry is a rather normal individual who is obsessed with filming everything. He eventually finds his way up the ladder of association in the street artist community to meet with Banksy. All the while, as Thierry records, records, records, he assures all of the artists that he is making a documentary about street art. In reality, Thierry has no plan, he is simply feeding his addiction to film.
The film gains speed when Thierry finally meets with the legendary underground artist Banksy. After alowing Thierry to film his process, Banksy suggests that Thierry create an exhibition of his own. This sparks the transformation of Thierry into the street artist "Mr. Brainwash". The remainder of the film explores just how much jof what Thierry produces is art and how much is simply junk. The sarcastic and self-deprecating journey ends on a note that asks viewers to compare art and consumerism and attempt to figure out where one ends and the other begins.
